Me and Beth, just before she left for Iraq, April 2003Yesterday I went out into the shed and found some old photos and letters from Beth’s Iraq days. My son Jeremy took this photograph in mid April 2003, at the Aberdeen Proving Ground. When Beth was “leaving for Iraq,” we drove out to there about five or six times to see her, each time under the impression that “this could be the last time we will see Mom”. This photograph was the real deal – after taking it, we left for home, and within the next day or so, she was on a plane to Iraq.
