The Resident Doctor was just around; she was someone who hadn’t seen Beth recently. She seemed a bit shocked to see the swelling. I was alarmed. Swelling of the legs is expected, to some degree, with all the fluids; but the fact that the arm was swelled up led her to think that Beth may have developed a DVT (deep vein thrombosis), or a blood clot, causing her to arm to have swelled up. They are going to take her for an ultrasound to see what’s going on there.
The blisters on her feet are very big, and full of fluids. We can tell the swelling has gone down a bit, because the blisters are a bit sloshy, instead of full-looking and ready to burst.
This BK virus can lead to kidney failure; and it takes a long time to clear this out. Our doctor is saying two weeks, but it could last longer than that.
